Patricia Randall Taylor of West Hartford, Connecticut and Old Lyme Shores, died at home surrounded by family on Wednesday June 19, 2024. Tricia was born on September 16, 1966, in Hartford, CT. She attended Northwest Catholic High School and graduated from Providence College in 1988 where she met the love of her life, John Payton Taylor of Newport, RI. Tricia and John were married in 1994 and were blessed with three amazing and resilient children; Christine Katelyn Taylor, Esq. of West Hartford, CT; ENS John Randall Taylor, USCG, of Homer, AK; and Kellyann Patricia Taylor, a rising pre-med sophom*ore at Providence College.

Tricia was an extraordinary warrior who fought cancer for over 16 years with John by her side. Throughout her battle, she embodied indescribable strength and heroism in every aspect of her life. Despite her struggles, she was unwavering in her support and devotion to her family, friends, and two boston terriers. She loved and cherished the time she spent doting on and walking her dogs, Mulligan and Porter, every single day, no matter how she was feeling. Tricia was the best mother to her three children. She was ardently committed to raising her family and made sure to be engaged in every facet of her children’s lives. She never missed a school sporting event, concert, or volunteer opportunity. She was known for throwing the best holiday and birthday parties and she was always devoted to making sure that everyone around her was taken care of, despite the increasing sickness from her metastatic breast cancer.

Tricia was an amazing athlete with a strong competitive spirit. She loved to play tennis, swim, ski, and golf. She grew up as a competitive figure skater and spent many hours in the rink. She was always eager to play (and win) a game of ping pong or cards. She loved to cheer on the Providence College Friars both on the basketball court and in the hockey rink. When she needed a break from competition, Tricia loved to spend time at the beach in Old Lyme Shores, floating on her tube in the Long Island Sound. Her indelible spirit, untiring tenacity, and enduring faith carried her through in her battle against breast cancer. She always left it all on the field, even at the end.

Tricia was unfailingly devoted to God, family, and friends. She was a loving and extraordinary wife, mother, daughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, niece, and friend. She was so loved by everyone who knew her and was always the life of every party or gathering. She always kept her family laughing. Her positive spirit, smile, love for life, and the twinkle in her beautiful blue eyes will remain unforgettable. She was humble and kind and even in her pain, continued to reach out to help others. Tricia was a longtime parishioner at St. Timothy’s Church where she also taught catechism for many years.

In addition to John and her kids, Tricia is survived by her sisters, Mary Randall of Simsbury, CT; Amy Lynch of Simsbury, CT; Margaret Brodeur of Glastonbury, CT; and Christine Collins of Winhall, VT. She was predeceased by her parents, Amy and Warren Randall and her brothers W. Stephen and Joseph Randall. She had a special relationship with (and was the favorite of) each of her 17 nieces and nephews and 6 grand nieces and nephews (the latest of whom was born just 8 minutes after she died).

While we are beyond heartbroken to lose Tricia, we are so grateful to have been part of her life and to now have a special Angel in heaven watching over us all. The family is extremely grateful for all of Tricia’s extraordinary caregivers and for the support of so many wonderful friends.

The family will receive friends on Sunday June 23rd, from 3-7 p.m., at the Church of St. Timothy, 1116 North Main Street, West Hartford. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 24th, at St. Timothy Church. Burial will follow at Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to our Susan G. Komen team, Tricia’s Crew, in anticipation of the 2024 Komen Connecticut MORE THAN PINK Walk, to be held on October 27, 2024.
