Your inspiration and support mean the world to me.Charles Davis Davis, your presence was missed today, but I know you're enjoying much-deserved time with your family. Family truly is everything.Speaking of family…To my friends and family, your impact on my life is immeasurable. This degree is not just mine; it belongs to all of us. We did it.I only wish we could celebrate this achievement together!

5 years of hard work.But the day finally arrived.Yesterday, I finally defended my doctoral dissertation and got my PhD degree.I have absolutely no words to describe how I feel, but I must express my deepest gratitude to Donna Smith and Charles Davis for providing guidance throughout the journey. I’ve just started reading “The Anxious Generation” by Jonathan Haidt.Out of the gate (in the introduction, actually) he quotes Marcus Aurelius. Yes, that one from the second century.“Don’t waste the rest of your time here worrying about other people- unless it affects the common good. It will keep you from doing anything useful. You’ll be too preoccupied with what so-and-so is doing, and why, and what they are saying, and what they’re thinking, and what they’re up to, and all the other things that throw you off and keep you from focusing on your own mind.”What a great advice.Thanks, JonathanAnd Marcus Aurelius as well.…more to come as I move forward…It goes without saying, I’m loving the book.

WHEN ALGORITHMS FAILToday I received an email from Spotify that made me reflect on whether I should cancel my subscription.Here is the deal.Spotify's algorithms realized that I would enjoy listening to Tucker Carlson’s podcast, which is offensive to me, to say the least.I confess though, I’m a little bit curious to guess what band or artist am I listening to that drove this association.I hope it is not Springsteen.

According to the Oxford Dictionary, education is “a process of teaching, training and learning, especially in schools, colleges or universities, to improve knowledge and develop skills”.In my dictionary, with all respect to Oxford’s, education means being part of people’s lives. And what a great gift education is.Today I had the pleasure of attending my first convocation as a professor and witnessing a great batch of students graduating.
