Credit Reports are Now Permanently Free once a week!
"On Sept. 18, the three largest nationwide credit reporting agencies Equifax, Experian and TransUnion announced some good news for consumers: Each agency will permanently offer free credit reports once a week. The NCRAs, which are required by federal law to provide each person with a free annual report, began offering weekly access in 2020, in what they described as an effort to help consumers deal with pandemic-related financial hardships. They extended the offer multiple times, but it was set to expire at the end of 2023 until this most recent announcement."

I could have placed this in the News section. Get a bit more exposure here. Good Deal.

Re: Credit Reports are Now Permanently Free once a week!
Here are the direct links to the Equifax and Experian press releases (they're the same, and Transunion is one of the authors, though they don't seem to have posted it on their own website yet):
This is very good news. I requested my first credit report in 2021, so I've always been able to get them once a week. Which was tremendously useful. While the credit monitoring services do provide reports and updates, the reports from annualcreditreport.com are more authoritative, show all the people who are soft pulling your credit report, and are less you're-a-product-not-a-customer. It isn't as important now that I've become more familiar with how the process works, but it's still good to be able to check it once in a while, and I think it will help people who are new to credit understand how it all works.
So kudos to the three bureaus. While the incremental cost for providing this service is probably minimal to nonexistent, they don't exactly have a history of openness and transparency, so it's good to see them continue to provide this service.

It would get more exposure if people actually put news post in the news section...half the new post (maybe a slight exaggeration) there don't belong there (I got a question, random credit card approvals, etc but these are easily fixed) and the other half of the time news post get burried in the wrong forum section...because people don't post credit news to the credit in the news section.

So instead of realizing the problem you double down. Go figure.

Re: Credit Reports are Now Permanently Free once a week!
@Lou-naticApparently your displeasure of where I placed a thread you dont care for. Dont know what you meant by doubling down. I post and lead to please all members as part of my ranking I was chosen and asked to do as a CL. The numbers reveal there are more visits in this sub-forum in black and white. People checking their reports in these times were in, and its important to stay on top of your credit reports now doesnt have a cut off date. Its pernament. My intention was for more members to see we can check out reports on a weekly basis for free with no cut off date. I feel that is very important to all members. Especially those having credit problems during difficult times for some.
